I am an Eagle Scout, and I tried this on one of my campouts many years ago, and I regret to inform you that the recipe that you provided here, was not good.... at all. It left my eggs with a terrible texture, and and an even worse taste. I would not recommend this recipe AT ALL for future adventurers.
Thanks,
Patrick Higginbotham

@Patrick - I've eaten eggs this way at least a dozen times and enjoy it, as have others in our troop. I guess different tastes for different folks.

Works just fine WITH OUT the foil. try it this way - NO CLEAN-UP BREAKFAST, over JUST coals (NO flames, Slice orange in half, save pulp and squeezed juice to drink. Use 1 egg per orange half (salt & pepper to taste), place in coals, cook to your liking. Place ONE strip of bacon in small paper bag, hang 6"-8" over coals and cook.
Yes the texture & taste for the eggs will be a little bit different, but if everything is always the same, how would you grow?

@Bob - The foil also keeps ash out of the egg while it's cooking.
