Lyrics:
Chorus:
On the loose to climb a mountain, On the loose where I am free,
On the loose to live my life the way I think my life should be.
For I only have a moment, and a whole world yet to see.
I'll be looking for tomorrow on the loose.
Have you ever seen the sunrise turn the sky completely red?
Have you slept beneath the moon and stars, a pine bough for your bed?
Have you sat and talked with friends, though a word was never said?
Then you're just like me and you've been on the loose.
- Chorus
There's a trail that I'll be hiking just to see where it might go,
Many places yet to visit, many people yet to know.
For in following my dreams, I will live and I will grow,
In a world that's waiting out there on the loose.
- Chorus
So in search of love and laughter, I am traveling across this land.
Never sure of where I'm going, for I haven't any plan.
Anytime when you are ready, come and join me take my hand.
And together we'll share life out there on the loose.
- Chorus
As I sit and watch the sunset and the daylight slowly fades,
I am thinking of tomorrow, and the friendships I have made.
I will treasure them for always, and I hope that you'll do the same.
And forever we'll share life out on the loose.
- Chorus
Now the moon is gently glowing and the stars are twinkling bright
Our laughter and our friendship has cleared the cloudy night
Come and join our flickering campfire, come and sing our happy songs
Come and we'll live our lives together on the loose

this is a girl scout song! it was written by a girl scout counselor at glen spey! Therefore you may not get the words for boy scouts because it was meant for GIRLS!

I also can second that, it is a Girl Scout song. It's been a long time since I was in the US as a Girl Scout camp counselor on an exchange program and I still remember singing it

We sing this at a co-ed camp in wisconsin, camp anokijig. It's my favorite. So beautiful.

I have been teaching this song to Girl Scouts and co-ed Explorer
Scouts for over 20 years, and I just shared it at a "Songs of
Meaning" folk song circle last weekend! I am so happy to find the
lyrics here. I never knew about the last two verses! I think the
song transcends gender and age and is appropriate for everyone!
