Script:
Cast: #1‐8 Scouts & Phantom
(Open – lights dimmed – Scouts #1‐8 sitting outside tent around campfire chatting)
Scout # 1: Hey! You guys want to tell scary campfire stories?
(as each scout talks they hold the flashlight under their face)
Scout #2: Sure, you heard the one about the cub scout that got lost in these very woods?
Scout #3: Yeah! I heard he got turned into a phantom!
Scout #4: I heard he got turned into a ghost!
Scout #3: Ah, what's the difference?
Scout #5: Well, I heard that that the phantom likes to capture kids and turn them into more phantoms!
Scout #6: I heard the phantom likes to capture kids and turn them into scary dolls!
Scout #7: I heard the phantom smells like cat pee (or other smelly thing).
Scouts #1‐7: Gross! Ewww! Etc..
Scout #8: Ah, baloney! …I’ll tell you a scary story!
Scouts #1‐7: Let’s hear it!
Scout #8: Once, on a night just like this one, my mom grounded me from screen time for a whole day!
(Phantom slowly sneaks up behind Scout #8 and raises its arms)
(Scouts #1‐7 scream at the end of Scout #8's line and all flee off stage in horror in different directions)
Scout #8: Gee whiz, it wasn't that scary!
(oblivious to the phantom standing behind him) (phantom shrugs)
Scout #8: Why do I smell cat pee (or other smelly thing)?
(Scout #8 first smells own armpit then slowly turns around, sees the phantom – which raises its arms – Scout #8 screams, and runs off stage)
