Wax Firestarters   Wax Firestarters Activity   Scout Activity

This Activity is meant for Boy Scouts.
Required:
candlemaking wax - 1/3lb. per scout
cardboard egg carton - 1 for each 3 scouts
wood shavings - 1 cup per scout
plastic baggies - 1 per scout
Melt wax in a double-boiler (a can inside a pot of boiling water).
Pack wood shavings into the pockets of the egg carton.
Pour wax to fill each pocket.
Let cool and each scout gets 4 starters in a zip-loc baggie.

To use, tear the cardboard edge of a starter so it is easier to light. Place as the base of a fire and build tinder, kindling, and wood above it.
Did you try it and like it?             Or hate it?
